Inspired by my older brother, Paul, I got into guitars at the age of 12. From Paul I was educated in rock & roll, people like Eddie Cochran, Johnny Burnett, Buddy Holly & Elvis Presley. Through my teenage years I enjoyed soul, funk, punk and rock music. My first experience of performing was in local talent contests at village halls and clubs around the area, in a duo called ‘TNT’, with a school friend named Tim (Trust me we weren’t dynamite!) My first band experience was in a group called ‘Destiny’, covering some of the then current songs from the early eighties (sad!). After the band broke up I got into doing pub gigs as a solo act playing mostly acoustic covers. Then around 1985, I had a break from gigging and tried to form a rockabilly band that never really took off. In 2001 along with friends Alex Ivanov on drums, Masaya Yumeda on bass/backing vocals, Ian Graham on keyboard/guitar/backing vocals and Stefan Pacel and myself alternating on lead vocal and guitar formed a band called the ‘Gi’zers’. This was aimed at a Christmas party, and I got such a buzz from this gig. It gave me the thirst to get a proper band in action. ‘Firescene’ was the first one incorporating Alex Ivanov, Masaya Yumeda, myself, and the introduction of Dave Burns on lead guitar. We covered up-to-date rock and punk songs. Masaya had to move away from the area due to work leaving us without a bass player. Alex, Dave and myself still pursued with the music and gigs with new original songs being formed under the band name of ‘Krasha’. The first song I wrote was ‘Morning Sunshine’, this was followed by the catchy riff of ‘Killer in me’ which was written by Dave Burns and myself. In the late summer of 2004, the band was joined by bass player Ryan Prince, and with a whole bunch of new songs the band was re-named ‘Nine Hundred More’.
